Pricing, Transparency & a Look Behind the Scenes
Braumarkt: Full Transparency
Hey dear brewing friends!
You may have already noticed: some of our prices have changed recently. And if you're wondering why that is—don't worry, we're not leaving you in the dark. On the contrary: transparency is important to us. We want to openly show you how our prices are composed and why an adjustment is sometimes simply necessary.
Rising Costs Everywhere – We're Staying Fair
Whether it's raw materials, packaging, storage, or shipping: many of our operational costs have increased significantly in recent months. As a retailer, this affects us on multiple levels:
- Logistics: Shipping providers like GLS or DHL have raised their prices (CO₂ levies, tolls, fuel prices, personnel costs) —especially for heavy packages.
- Packaging materials: Boxes, filling material, labels—all more expensive.
- Operating costs: Electricity, rent, services, wages—the general costs of running a shop are steadily increasing.
- IT and administration: There are many processes running in the background that also cost money—from the webshop to the support team.
We have tried to keep prices stable for over a year. Now we need to find a balance of good prices for you without having to compromise on quality or service.
Example: Pilsner Malt 25 kg
To give you a better insight, here's a concrete example: the cost breakdown of the product Pilsner Malt 25 kg. A relatively heavy and labor-intensive product to handle.
As you can see, the pure purchase price at 34% is only part of the whole. Shipping costs (in this case GLS) account for 19%, VAT 16%, and many smaller components like storage costs, forklifts, lifting devices for occupational safety, IT, packaging, administration, advertising, and payment fees also add up. In the end, 2% remains for us. A small margin to invest in new ideas and products.
Logistics costs are one of our price drivers and are mainly dependent on shipping weight. To become more transparent for you, we have now set our shipping costs based on weight. The entry price remains stable up to 15 kg and increases with increasing weight until it becomes free shipping from a purchase value of €350. So for orders that stay under the 15 kg limit, nothing changes. Feel free to switch from the 25 kg sack to our 5 kg or 1 kg sacks, which we repack for you with great care. The parcel carrier will also thank you when the shipments become lighter.
Our Promise: Honest and Transparent
We have no desire for excessive markups or hidden costs. Instead, we pass on increased expenses to you fairly and openly—without hefty margins. For us, this is the right way. And we hope it feels the same for you.
Thank You for Your Trust!
We know: price changes are never pleasant. But we believe that understanding arises through transparency. And that's exactly why we're speaking openly with you about it. Thank you for accompanying us on this path—and for continuing to live the brewing culture with us!
